What’s New at Lakair Lodge?

The winter months this year brought never ending snow. Just keeping the roads open for crews to continue renovations was a battle. Great progress has been made on the Lodge. It is nearly complete. You’ll see photos in the Gallery under “Lodge”. It hosts floor to ceiling windows with views down the West Arm, a stone fireplace, beautiful bar and seating for 75 including the deck. The large deck over looks the lake. It’s a great place to enjoy the summer afternoons watching the world go by.

Efforts are underway to revamp our website, Facebook and Instagram accounts. You’ll see changes in the weeks ahead.

Weather and time allowing we will try and lift the boathouse and strengthen the underlying supports. Our plans are to retain the building as is. It is definitely a piece of history that needs to be preserved.

The melt is on and ice is beginning to disappear. We’ve seen herons, geese and a bald eagle either in or near the water by the bridge. Everyone including us is anxious to see those warm days of spring.

The Ice Cream Shack continues to be a big draw for our guests and neighbors. Farquhars ice cream is definitely a big hit. We are installing the old Lodge sink in the ice cream shack this year. It has been completely refurbished and looks great! This will allow us to serve hot dogs and other snacks as well as our ice cream treats.

LAKAIR LODGE IS UNDER RENOVATION!

 Lakair has been catering to families, fishermen and outdoor enthusiasts since 1919. We offer comfortable, clean, fully renovated waterfront cottages ranging in size from 1 to 3 bedrooms. We are sure that you will enjoy your stay at Lakair Lodge, where we pride ourselves in offering friendly, helpful service on the beautiful West Arm of Lake Nipissing .

We enjoyed a very good and productive 2017 season! The completion of the renovations on 3 more of our waterfront cabins brought our total number of completed renovated  cottages to 6, and we were delighted to be able to host more people from across the world, new guests and old friends of Lakair Lodge.

Through a very wet season in 2017 our tremendous construction crew continued to work away on renovating our 3 Bedroom Cottage bringing our total of completed waterfront cottages to 7.  The fall brought on the beginning of the huge task of renovating our very old Main Lodge building. The Main Lodge renovation continues to date, with plans for the New Restaurant to be opening for our 2018 Season at the end of May! Hats off to our great crew!!

With our focus directed to the completion of the restaurant, the further renovations to our “Old Legacy Cabins” has had to be delayed.  We are hopeful that by next season, we will have a full contingent of renovated, comfortable cabins for rent.

Our new Ice Cream Shack was a great success and a  destination at the waterfront either by foot or by paddle. To those of you who came by looking for ice-cream, Thank you! We were delighted to be able to scoop out that wonderful Farquhars Ice Cream and have a chance to make new friends and reconnect with old friends! We will be adding Milkshakes and Steamer Hotdogs to our menu for the 2018 season and look forward to seeing you there!

We will be offering Premium Gasoline, Oil and basic Fishing Bait and Tackle for sale at our Marina Boat House again this year as well as Ice.
